After reading Poverty, by America, I stumbled upon this book and decided to read it. Author Daron Acemoglu is Institute Professor of Economics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He has received several awards and honours, including the John Bates Clark Medal, the BBVA Frontiers of Knowledge Award in economics, finance and management, and the Kiel’s Institute’s Global Economy Price in economics. Simon Johnson is the Roland A. Kutz Professor of Entrepreneurship in Sloan School at MIT. He was the chief economist at the International Monetary Fund in 2007-2008.
